My name is Bob Jackson. I worked at WPDC in the late 70's and early 80's. I was a DJ on Saturday and Sunday nights. At that time the station was owned by Charles Smith and we simulcasted on 1600 AM and 106.7 FM. We signed off every night at midnight. In the 80's the station was sold to a Robert K. Zimmerman and the call letters were changed to WRKZ. We still simulcasted. The new owner wanted to change the format to country music and we were known as Z107. I was the first DJ to to play country music. Just a short time later the stations were split. Z107 became a leading country music station in the area. The owner kept the WPDC call letters, and the format was gospel/religious music. I am visiting the area and would love to see the inside of the station and the control rooms. Lots of good times and memories are there.
